WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – No. 4 Hawai'i Pacific University chalked up its fifth win of the season as the Sharks blanked Chaminade 9-0 at the Central Oahu Regional Park Courts on Monday.
The No. 4 Sharks (5-0) dropped only seven games in sweeping the Silverswords (0-4) in the nine positions.
HPU opened by collecting all three doubles points, as Lena Luteier and
Oceane Adam dispatched Catrina Liner/Salamasina Te'i 8-2 at No. 1, while
Heloise Le Normand and Leticia Gonzales dos Santos moved up to No. 2 to beat Emma Haurillon/Elyssa Shirai 8-0.
Monica Greene and
Bianca Schulhof played at No. 3 and blanked Cai Yan Fang and Hannah Parker 8-0.
The Sharks cleaned up in singles action led by ninth ranked Lutzeier who ripped Liner at No. 1 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2, 10th ranked
Lara Meccico shutout Te'i 6-0, 6-0, with
Barbora Kijasova moving up to No. 3 to beat Haurillon 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 4 singles, Le Normand blanked Shirai 6-0, 6-0, the same as Schulof did at No. 5 to Fang. Greene won No. 6 over Parker 6-1, 6-1.
HPU will be back in action again on March 6 when the Sharks open a seven-match trip to the mainland by facing Academy of Art in San Francisco.
