HONOLULU - The Hawaii Pacific University women's tennis team fell 7-0 to San Jose State, Sunday afternoon at the UH Manoa Tennis Complex.
The Sharks matched up with their second Division I test in a row to begin their season. Unfortunately, it was not in the cards as HPU were handed their second loss.
A ray of sunshine for the Sharks today came early in the doubles competitions, when
Shaline Pipa and
Marleen Tilgner defeated Alba Pedrero Galindo and Irena Muradyan 6-2. The duo earned their first win together.
As for the rest of the day, the Spartans swept up all remaining competition with
Nicole Ballach falling short, losing 10-8 in the closest singles match.
The Sharks will have some time to recoup before familiar faces roll back into town starting with Holy Names on Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Kailua Raquet Club. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
