Women's Tennis Cleans Up Hilo 6-1

KAILUA - The No. 4 Hawaii Pacific University women's tennis team dominated UH Hilo 6-1 Friday morning at the Kailua Racquet Club.

The Sharks (2-2, 2-0 PacWest) extend the series lead over the Vulcans (1-1, 1-1 PacWest) to 32-1.

Doubles Competition
The Sharks doubles teams look to be in mid-season form already as pair Marleen Tilgner and Pipa Shaline defeated Julia Barden and Nanami Okamoto 6-1 to claim one of the two doubles matches. No. 2 pair of Elodie Busson and Abigail Wild have a their connection running seamless as they cleaned up Hikari Osaki and Casydee De Mattos 6-1 to clinch the point for HPU. Nicole Ballach/ Rikona Murakami were headed for a victory up 5-2, but was called short due to the clinch.

Singles Competition
Hawaii had another strong showing in the singles division claiming five of six duals. No. 1 Shaline cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory for the days second point. Busson took the first set of her match 6-4, but faltered in the second losing 6-2. However, in the third set she locked in sealing the win 6-1. 

Lynn Kader and Abigail Wild grabbed two more points for HPU in straight sets, with the only loss of the day coming in the No.5 dual. Hilo's McKenna Mountain had her swing dialed taking down Rikona Murakami for their only point of the day.

The Sharks move on to their third of four matchups this weekend with No. 17 Azusa Pacific on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. HT.
