Honolulu, HI – The Hawai'i Pacific baseball team came out on top in an exciting 12-6 win against DU on February 1st, 2025 at Hans L'Orange Park. Despite an early rally by DU, the Sharks' explosive offense and solid pitching performance led them to victory.

Key Performances:

• N. Blythe provided the offensive spark for HPU, hitting a home run and finishing with 6 RBIs.

• T. Arnold also had a strong showing, adding a home run and 2 RBIs.

• S. Agnew and B. Rivera contributed with 3 hits each, helping the offense stay consistent.

• J. Otjen started on the mound but was followed by S. Blanchard (1-0), who earned the win in relief after throwing 2.2 scoreless innings. M. Quia closed the game for his first save.

For DU:

• Matschiner and Byrne each had a solid performance at the plate, with 2 hits and 4 RBIs combined.

• C. Wambach also had a strong game, tallying 2 hits in the loss.

Game Recap:

The game kicked off with a quick 3-0 lead for Hawai'i Pacific in the first inning, as Matschiner responded with a 2-RBI double in the second to cut the lead to 3-2. From there, the game remained competitive with DU scoring two more runs in the fourth inning to take a short-lived 4-3 lead.

However, HPU came back strong with a 3-run fifth inning and capped it off with a 3-run eighth to seal the win. DU struggled to find consistency on the mound, as McKinnis (0-1) took the loss after giving up 6 earned runs.
