Azusa, CA - The Hawaii Pacific Sharks won game 4 and took the series 3-1 against APU on Saturday,
February 22nd. While the Sharks have been relying on the big inning to carry them to victory so far this season, their win this Saturday showed a more consistent offense that was able to score in almost every inning to completely take the momentum and put the Cougars away.
The pitching staff did an incredible job of keeping the APU hitters off time and limiting big innings. Sophmore
Jordan Otjen got the start and went 2 solid innings before passing the torch to freshman
Jayden Gabrillo who pitched 3 innings of 1 run ball. Captain
Vicente Molina continued his dominance against the APU hitters with 2 scoreless innings before the 1-2 punch of
Makana Quia and
Ryan Inouye came in to shut the door.
Bronson Rivera smashed 2 homeruns while
Kan Taguchi continued to stay hot at the plate and picked up his 9th hit of the series.
Noah Blythe picked up 3 more hits and continued to be an absolute nightmare for opposing pitchers. The sharks scored in 6 out of the 9 innings and proved that they aren't just a team that lives and dies by the big inning, but a well rounded offense than can win in many ways.
The Sharks will look to stay locked in next Saturday,
March 1st, where they are back home at
Hans L'Orange park facing Biola for a double header.
