Blythe hits a walk off grandslam as Sharks cap off Friday night with a thriller

Honolulu, HI - The HPU Sharks took both games from Concordia this Friday in 2 gritty wins including a 9th inning comeback in game 2 capped off by a Noah Blythe walkoff grandslam.

The Sharks got the bats going early in game 1, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the 4th inning. Concordia was able to battle back and score some runs in the 5th and 6th inning but the Sharks did a great job of answering back every inning the Golden Eagles scored. The Sharks held on to a 9-8 lead as Ryan Inouye came in for the 2 inning save to shut the door.

Game 2 was an absolute thriller. Concordia put up 2 runs in the first inning but the Sharks took back the lead in the bottom of the first with a 3 run opposite field bomb from Bronson Rivera. The Sharks added 1 more in the second but went quiet for a couple innings due to some hard hit balls right at fielders. Concordia was able to score 7 straight runs to make it a 9-4 ball game going into the bottom of the 7th. This is when the magic happened. Daniel Johnson and Bronson Rivera both singled before Tyler Arnold unloaded on a ball to left center for a 3 run homer to make it a 9-7 game. Troy Harding hit a double which was followed by a gritty at bat from Jayden Gabrillo where he got hit by a pitch to make it first and second with 1 out. Noah Hata and Kan Taguchi both walked to make it 9-8. This brought Noah Blythe to the plate. With nowhere to put him, he got a 2-2 slider that he deposited over the left field fence for a walkoff grand slam. The Sharks celebrated as the Waipahu fireworks went off to end a magical night. The Sharks will look to take the series Saturday, March 8th.
