HONOLULU – Hawaiʻi Pacific University Athletics has named Vraunwyn Denny as the head coach of the Sharks' STUNT and cheer programs.

Denny arrives at HPU with more than 26 years of coaching experience and a distinguished background in competitive cheerleading and gymnastics. Throughout her career, she has built championship-caliber programs, developed student-athletes at every level, and earned national recognition for her success in coaching, choreography, and program leadership.

Most recently, Denny served as Teams Coordinator at Kokokahi Gymnastics in Kāneʻohe, Hawaiʻi, where she directed competitive gymnastics training, mentored coaches, coordinated team operations, and served as a meet director for multiple gymnastics competitions. Prior to that role, she spent 17 seasons as the head cheer coach at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, California.

During her tenure at Marina High School, Denny guided the program to multiple state and national championships, including two UCA High School National Championships, three CIF Southern Section championships, a CIF State Regional title, USA High School National Championships, and numerous CheerPros championships. Marina also recorded 10 Top-10 finishes at the UCA High School National Championships during her time with the program.

Her coaching accomplishments have earned her numerous individual honors, including Marina High School Coach of the Year in 2021-22 and 2022-23, as well as CheerPros Coach of the Year during the 2021-22 season.

In addition to her work at the high school level, Denny has coached with Rise Up Athletics, PACE All-Stars, SCATS Gymnastics, and What's Up Gymnastics. She has also served as a stunt technique consultant for Westcliff University, Vanguard University, and Orange Coast College, assisting with athlete development, advanced stunt progression, and collegiate program support.

As a competitor, Denny also achieved success on the national and international stage. Her accomplishments include a UCA College National Championship in the All-Girl Stunt Group division, a World Championship with an International All-Girl team, and two runner-up finishes at the NCA College Nationals.

A graduate of Pearl City High School who also attended Hawaiʻi Pacific University, Denny brings extensive experience in athlete development, program administration, safety standards, and championship-level coaching to the Sharks.

Denny will lead HPU's STUNT and cheer programs as the university continues to invest in expanding opportunities for student-athletes and building competitive programs that emphasize excellence both on and off the mat.
