Dallas Correa is in his third season as head baseball coach at Hawai‘i Pacific University, named the fifth head coach in program history on August 14, 2018. Correa is in his sixth season with the Sharks including three years an assistant coach.
One of the youngest head coaches in the nation, Correa is a native of Kauai who returned to the state after his college playing career ended.
Correa was assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the baseball program. He also oversaw the team’s catchers, academics, and strength and conditioning programs.
While a graduate assistant coach at HPU, Correa was the manager of the Marysville Gold Sox in the summer of 2017 after serving as an assistant coach the previous year in the Great West League.
While at Hawaii Pacific, Correa has had the privilege of coaching three HPU players currently in minor league systems throughout professional baseball: Rico Garcia (30th Round, Rockies), Brandon Bonilla (13th Round, Orioles), and Matthew Gunter (33rd Round, Blue Jays). Correa has also overseen multiple All-PacWest and All-West region Academic honors and has been instrumental in creating the Sharks Baseball Corporate sponsorship program, Sharks Prospect/Youth Camps and Showcases, and First Pitch Dinner raising over $100,000 in his first two years at the helm.
Correa has also created the Sharks Baseball Service program providing over 50 hours of community service per year. These include supporting the Hawaii Special Olympics Competitions, St. Francis Walk for Our Kupuna, Marcus Mariota's Motiv8 Foundation, Career Days at multiple Middle and Elementary Schools, The Men's March Against Domestic Violence, and The Okinawan Festival.
Prior to his collegiate coaching career, Correa was a catcher for Pacific (Calif.) in the NCAA Division I West Coast Conference. He was a two-time All-ILH catcher and two-time ILH Champion at St. Louis High School in Honolulu, where he also was named an Under Armour Pre-Season All-American before graduating in 2011.
Correa earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 2015 from Pacific and a Master of Secondary Education in 2017 from Hawaii Pacific.
An educator on and off the field, Correa is also a science teacher at Kalani High School.
