Tom Grassel enters his second year with HPU as the infield coach. In his first season, Grassel helped make an immediate impact, as HPU set a school record for highest fielding percentage in a season (.971), ranking 33rd in all of Division II baseball. In addition, HPU lead the PacWest in double play completions, and saw every single starting infielder earn an All-Conference award, including a First Team All-Conference Selection at First Base.
Grassel was a multiple All-Conference selection as a Pitcher and Shortstop in High School, setting records for strikeouts, ERA, and batting average in a season. Following high school, Grassel played several years at Yakima Valley CC, making the NWAC tournament back to back years with those teams.Â
Currently he resides with his wife and two children in Honolulu.
