Missy Kunsch

Marissa “Missy” Kunsch is in her third season as assistant coach for the Sharks men’s and women’s cross country teams. Prior to this position, Missy served as the HPU graduate assistant coach and competed for the Sharks ‘ohana as an undergraduate from 2012-2015.
 
While running for the Sharks Missy earned First Team All-PacWest Conference her sophomore year, and seconnd team All-PacWest her junior year. Missy graduated from HPU in 2016 with a bachelors in environmental science, and went on to earn her masters' in Global Leadership and Sustainable Development in 2018 while serving as the graduate assistant to both the men’s and women’s teams.
 
Kunsch hails from Virginia Beach, Va., where she competed on the cross country and swim teams, continuing her passion for running by competing in several distance races post-college. Her favorite race distances are the half and full marathon, and she has competed in several local races. In 2019, she qualified for the 2020 Boston Marathon, and continues to help train the women’s cross country team.
 
Away from the course, Missy works full time at Hawaii Energy and enjoys activities including hiking, diving, and surfing.
