Personal: Born in Obregon, Sonora, Mexico… he is the child of Jorge Mendez and Aurora Barcelo… he has three sibling; Yhune (32), Arelis (30) and Oswaldo (37)… his nickname is Twinkie… his hobby is reading… his favorite food is Italian… his favorite movie is La Vita e Bella… his favorite music artists are Arisa, Zaz, and Maroon 5… he is currently majoring in Business… he chose HPU because he wanted to travel… in ten years Jorge would like to own his own company and/or be a lawyer.

Prior to HPU: He graduated from James Monroe High School in North Hills, CA… he ran cross country and track for Coach Leo Hernandez… in 2008 and 2009 he was on the championship team for the Los Angeles City Section… he placed top ten in the Los Angeles City Section for both 2008 and 2009… he attended Los Angeles Valley College where he ran cross country and track for Coach Sabino Beltran… while he was there he achieved a top 5 finish in the Western Conference Cross Country Championships.

HPU: 2014: Begins his second season... 2013: Ran in 5 races with 1 top 10 finish... Academic All - PacWest. 1500m time of 4:06, 5k time of 15:28, 10k time of 32:21.
