Alex Takemura was named Head Coach of Hawai‘i Pacific University Softball ahead of the 2025–26 season, bringing nearly 30 years of experience in education and over two decades of coaching on the diamond. A dedicated mentor and leader, Takemura is known for his commitment to building connection, community, and a culture where student-athletes can thrive.

Before joining HPU, Takemura spent eight years coaching baseball at his alma mater, Mid-Pacific Institute, where he helped lead the junior varsity program to two ILH championships. As a former student-athlete at MPI, he was part of three state championship teams. His coaching career also includes 22 years of high school baseball and 14 years of club softball experience, along with a recent stint as an assistant softball coach at Chaminade University.

Takemura's coaching philosophy is rooted in mentorship, personal growth, and inspiring student-athletes to embrace their full potential — both on and off the field.
