Hawaii Pacific University Athletics

Maya Nakamura joins the Hawai‘i Pacific University softball coaching staff ahead of the 2025 season, bringing with her an accomplished playing career and a strong foundation in teaching and mentorship.

A standout infielder at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, Nakamura earned numerous accolades during her collegiate career, including 2024 All-Big West Second Team and CSC Academic All-District honors. She was also named an Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete in 2024, following a decorated tenure that included NFCA All-West Region (2023), multiple All-Big West selections (2021–24), and recognition on the Big West Academic All-Conference and All-Freshman teams.

Beyond the diamond, Nakamura serves as a fourth-grade elementary school teacher in Honolulu and continues to share her love for the game through coaching. She previously volunteered with the Na Wahine Softball Club from 2021 to 2023 and spent the 2024–25 season as a volunteer coach at Henry J. Kaiser High School.

A native of Honolulu, Hawai‘i, Nakamura resides in her hometown and brings a passion for player development, academic excellence, and community leadership to the Sharks program.
