HONOLULU, HI (February 26, 2014)—Hawai`i Pacific First Baseman Chad Bolibol hit a game-tying three-run home run in the ninth inning against Fresno Pacific Monday night. The home run helped get the Sea Warriors get to extra innings where they would eventually win and helped Bolibol earn Pepsi Player of the Week.
The Mililani native had a solid four-game series, going 6-12 with five RBI and four runs scored in the first three games. The redshirt junior also stole a base and hit a double in the series. For the season he has now accrued seven RBI, seven runs scored and sports a .286 average at the plate.
Bolibol’s home run in game three of the series was full of drama.
With the top of the lineup batting in the ninth and trailing by three, leadoff man Jordan Oshiro was drilled by the first pitch of the inning. Tyler Tokunaga singled through the right side in the next at-bat and both later advanced on a wild pitch. The next two Sea Warriors would be retired before Bolibol worked the count full. With HPU down to its final strike Bolibol crushed a three-run home run to left field to tie the game.
The Sea Warriors will now step outside of PacWest play to face Cal State East Bay in Hayward, CA on February 27th.
