Gina Brewer

The longest tenured coach in the history of the Hawai‘i Pacific University women’s soccer program, Gina Brewer is in her eighth season as the head coach of the Sharks.
 
She has led HPU to a pair of 10-plus win seasons and two more of eight or better in her previous seven seasons. Brewer has directed the Sharks to a 56-54-13 record overall in her tenure.
 
She directed the 2017 Sharks to an 8-8-2 campaign, finishing 4-7-2 in PacWest action. She directed the Sharks to a school record 11-4-2 season in 2014, tallied a 10-5-2 mark in 2011 and a 9-9-0 ledger in 2015.
 
Brewer has coached her student-athletes to 19 All-PacWest Conference Team spots, including three (Ebony Madrid, First Team; Sara Romo, Second Team; Hi‘ilani Thomas, Third Team) in 2017, with one in 2016 (Noelle Mercado, Second Team), three in 2015, four in 2014, three in 2013, three in 2012 and five in 2011. Two of her student-athletes, Erika Ellis and Lexi Cameau, were named All-Region in 2014.
 
Brewer came to HPU after three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Hawai‘i from 2008-10. She was an assistant at Utah State from 2006-to-2007 and a graduate assistant at Idaho from 2003-to-2005.
 
During her playing days, Brewer was part of a very successful program at Washington from 1998-2001, where the Huskies won the 2000 Pac-10 Championship and went to the NCAA Tournament three times. She played at UW with USA Women’s National Team legendary goalkeeper Hope Solo.
 
Originally from Seattle, Wash., Brewer holds a Master’s of Education in Physical Education and health from Idaho, and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Communications from Washington.

Originally from Seattle, Washington, Brewer came to Hawai’i in 2008 to be an assistant coach at the University of Hawaii. Prior to Hawai’i, Gina was an assistant at Utah State University from 2006 to 2007. Her first collegiate soccer job was at the University of Idaho as a graduate assistant from 2003-2005 where she received her Masters of Education in Physical Education and Health.

She currently holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" coaching license and she also coaches youth soccer in Hawaii for the Leahi Soccer Club.
