Bellingham, WA (10/10/10) – On the campus of Western Washington University, the HPU men's soccer team fell to the Vikings, 5-2. The Sea Warriors fall to 7-4 overall while WWU improves to 5-4-2.
The match was the final contest of HPU's six-game road trip, as the Sea Warriors were unable to overcome a 3-0 second half deficit. Gibson Bardley posted two goals and one assist for Western Washington, and Jin Dangvan recorded a goal and two assists.
Trailing by three goals early in the second half, Kainoa Kahui (Kona, HI) scored to cut into the lead but Bardsley pushed the advantage back to three goals with a score in the 62nd minute. Jimmy Baggett (Bainbridge Island, WA) again cut into the lead for HPU with his 10th goal of the season but it was not enough.
Kay Flache (Schweinfurt, Germany) recorded four saves for HPU with Christian Warman posting three saves in net for the Vikings.
The Sea Warriors now return home to resume PacWest play. They next play Thursday, October 14, versus Dominican University. Start time at Atherton Field is set for 12:30 p.m.
