Women’s Volleyball Falls To Dixie State

St. George, UT (10/9/10) – At Old Gym on the campus of Dixie State College, the HPU women's volleyball team fell to the Red Storm, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 27-25). HPU falls to 10-3 and 4-2 in the PacWest, while Dixie improves to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in conference.

Natasha Bell again paced HPU, equaling match-high honors in kills (13) to go along with 16 digs. Courtney Curran and Miriam Flemming both posted 10 kills and Kyra Pelayo recorded a match-high 29 digs.

Madisyn Fitzgerald led Dixie State with 13 kills.

Each game saw Dixie grab a slim early lead and hold on for the win. HPU had its best opportunity for a win in game three. After trailing 14-10, Flemming and Bell both posted a pair of kills to bring HPU level at 19-19. Curran then recorded a kill to give HPU a 23-22 lead but Dixie responded to steal the game and win the match.

The Sea Warriors now travel to Phoenix for a pair of PacWest matches against Grand Canyon University. Start time of the first match is set for 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time on Monday, October 11.
