Monmouth, OR (11/17/10) – In its season opening game, the HPU men's basketball team defeated Simon Fraser University, 92-79. Nick Frazier posted a team-high 22 points and LaBrent Chappell added 20 more to guide HPU to the win.

HPU led by two points at halftime but outscored SFU 54-43 in the second half. The Sea Warriors use an 11-3 run to take a 15 point lead with 10:03 to play in the game. Adrian den Dulk scored 15 points on 4-6 shooting and Jelany White added eight points and five rebounds off the bench.

Simon Fraser was led by Ricky Berry who scored a game-high 29 points.

SFU led 23-18 in the first half before the Sea Warriors scored the next 13 points. Royal Edwards (9 pts, 5 reb) scored four points during the run.

HPU remains in Oregon to take part in the Western Oregon/Phoenix Inn D2 Shootout. The Sea Warriors open with Saint Martin's University this Friday, November 19. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
