Men’s Soccer Falls To Northwest Nazarene

Kaneohe, HI (9/6/10) – At Atherton Field, the HPU men's soccer team was defeated by Northwest Nazarene University, 1-0. NNU improves to 1-1 while HPU drops also to 1-1. The loss snaps an 18-game home unbeaten streak for HPU that stretched back to November, 2007.

The Sea Warriors dominated play for most of the game, outshooting NNU 12-7. The only goal of the match came in the 65th minute. Brock Ogami passed the ball to Salvador Sanchez at the top of the penalty area, whose shot ricocheted off the goal post into the goal.

Kay Flache had five saves for HPU, with NNU keeper Mitch Rice recording seven saves.

Nathan Scott was dangerous out of the back for the Sea Warriors, taking five shots with three of them on net. Sanchez scored on his only shot attempt of the match.

HPU begins PacWest play Thursday, September 16, versus Chaminade. Start time at Saint Louis Field on the Chaminade campus is set for 10:00 a.m.
