Belmont, CA (January 25, 2011) – A strong rebounding performance plus good defense minus turnovers equaled a 58-49 win over Notre Dame de Namur at the Walter Gleason Gym. Senior Royal Edwards played a complete game with 14 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. The win leads to a season split with NDNU and ups the record to 8-10 and 3-3 in the PacWest.
A jumper by Sophomore Kyle Allen with 7:50 left proved to be the game winner in a game that saw seven ties. A late 10-2 run put the game out of reach. The first half was close, with each team leading by five at different points. A late lay in by Edwards gave HPU a 23-19 lead at the half.
Junior LaBrent Chappell was a perfect 10-10 from the foul line on his way to 14 points. Junior Adrian den Dulk scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds. Senior Jason Jackson had a game-high 12 rebounds.
Arron Mollet led NDNU with 16 points. NDNU falls to 3-14, 1-6.
