Hilo, HI (October 5, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's soccer team posted a 3-0 win over UH-Hilo on the Big Island in PacWest play.
Sam Carmichael,
Chance Bukoski and
Kimo Komomua all scored in the first half to lead HPU.
Carmichael got the scoring started early, in the 28th minute he hit a shot from outside the penalty box. Just six minutes later, Bukoski found the net for the 11th time this season. A good pass from Komomua left Bukoski one-on-one with the goalie and he scored. Near the end of the first half, in the 41st minute, Komomura and Buksoki again hooked up, this time it was Bukoski setting up Komomua on a cross.
The HPU defense only gave up five shots for the match, one of them on goal. HPU was aggressive shooting 16 times, with 11 of them on goal.
Heimana Chene and
George Fochive both had two shots on goal.
HPU completed the three match season sweep of the Vulcans with a combined score of 9-1. HPU is now 9-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play.
HPU next hosts third-ranked Simon Frasier University in a pivotal West Region match on Saturday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park at 7 PM.
