Men’s Basketball Falls to UH-Manoa

Box Score Manoa, HI (November 11, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's basketball team dropped a 62-56 decision to the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. Junior Sean Jones led the Sea Warriors turning in 11 points.

The first half was close. HPU briefly took a 9-8 lead with 15:11 left, but ended up trailing by two, 33-31, at the half. HPU was down 10 with 5:28 to play but a 7-0 run kept HPU in the game. The second half remained tight, with 11:32 left UH led 42-40. The Sea Warriors then went on a 9-0 run to take a seven point lead. Later, a pair of Glenn Miller foul shots tied the game for the sixth time, this time at 54. HPU's offense then went cold, only tallying two points over the final 3:20.

Nick Frazier had nine points, Miller and Marko Cukic each had eight. Miller led HPU in rebounds with seven. The HPU defense was stiff, allowing UH to shot 39% (21-54) from the floor, and only 35% (9-26) in the second half. HPU also forced 17 turnovers.

HPU next plays China in an exhibition game tomorrow in Laie at the Cannon Activates Center at 7 PM.
