Men’s Basketball Drops Road Contest

Box Score Seattle, WA (November 19, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's basketball team lost 75-61 to Central Washington in the final game of the Sodexo GNAC/PacWest Challenge. Sean Jones had 11 points off the bench to lead HPU.

HPU was in comeback mode for most of the afternoon, HPU only led in the opening moments of the game. After trailing by seven three different times, Kyle Allen hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 18 with 9:48 left in the first half. At the half, the deficit had grown back to nine. Another Kyle Allen jumper with 15:42 left brought HPU to within eight at 46-38, but the HPU comeback would stop there.

Fran Urli had 10 points and five rebounds while shooting 4-8 from the floor. Marko Cukic and Nick Frazier each had eight points as LaBrent Chappell and Allen each had seven for the balanced HPU attack. Glenn Miller led the way with eight rebounds. Frazier did a little of everything with two rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

HPU led 30-16 in bench points and 34-30 in points in the paint. However, Central Washington won the second chance points battle 13-6, points off turnovers 19-8 and fast break points 12-0.

HPU's records dips to 0-3 on the season. Central Washington is now 2-1; the Wildcats were led by Tyler Toussaint's 21 points.

The SeaWarriors will return home for the home opener against Alaska-Fairbanks on Thanksgiving Day at 2 PM at the Blaisdell Center.
