Men’s Basketball Falls to Ranked Opponent

Box Score Seattle, WA (November 18, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's basketball team dropped a road game against the 22nd ranked Seattle Pacific, 70-52. Kyle Allen came off of the bench to lead HPU with 15 points.

HPU fell behind early, trailing 9-0 just three minutes into the game. HPU trimmed the lead to eight with 11:33 left in the first half on a Jelany White layup. By the break, HPU trailed 34-21. A three-point hit by Sean Jones got HPU to within four with 16:03 to play. However, HPU would get no closer.

SPU shot 62% (24-39) for the game as the SeaWarriors managed 38% (17-45). HPU won the turnover battle 11-15, but fell shy in the rebounding department 29-25. HPU didn't help themselves going just 16-28 (57%) from the foul line. Allen also led HPU in rebounding with seven boards. LaBrent Chappell scored seven points while Nick Frazier had six.  

SPU's Jobi Wall led all scorers with 23 points.

HPU falls to 0-2 on the season while Seattle Pacific improves to 3-0. HPU plays again tomorrow against Central Washington in Seattle at 3 PM PST.
