Hilo, HI (2/11/11) – Hawai'i Pacific dropped a 74-61 decision on the road to the University of Hawai'i at Hilo. A slow start doomed the Sea Warriors, who are now 10-13 and 5-6 in the PacWest Conference.
HPU was led by Kyle Allen off the bench, notching 13 points to go along with four rebound and four assists. Jason Jackson just missed out on a triple-double with 11 points and eight rebounds. LaBrent Chappell ignited the offense, dishing out six assists.
The Vulcans shot 55% (29-53) on the game, and were paced by Justin Smith's 20 points. Hilo improves to 14-8 and 6-5 in conference.
The Sea Warriors now head to the American Southwest to play Dixie State and Grand Canyon this week. Up first is Grand Canyon on Thursday, start time is set for 7:30 P.M. HPU returns to Oahu to play at Chaminade on February 25th.
