Men’s Basketball Falters in Utah

St. George, UT (February 19, 2011) – Hawai'i Pacific played well early, but Dixie State came back to win 67-54 on its home floor. The Sea Warriors led for 17:38 of the first half, and led by as many as 12 early in the second half. Jason Jackson finished with eight points and 10 rebounds.

In the first half, HPU shot 6-11 from three-point range, helping to control the game 35-26 at the half. Adrian den Dulk opened the second half with a three that gave the Sea Warriors their biggest lead. Shortly thereafter, Dixie State went on a 12-0 run to take the lead with 14:17 to play. Five minutes later, the Red Storm would take a lead they would not surrender.

LaBrent Chappell and Nick Frazier each hit two threes on the night.

Den Dulk led HPU with 10 points; Keenan Prince had nine, while Chappell and Frazier had eight each. The Sea Warriors fall to 10-15 overall, and 5-8 in conference.

Dixie State guard Jeremiah Barnes had a game-high 18 points, the Red Storm are now 16-5, 9-2.

HPU gets a rematch against Dixie State at the Neal Blaisdell Center on February 28th, but first the Sea Warriors play at Chaminade on Friday night at 7:30 P.M.
