Honolulu, HI (February 25, 2011) – LaBrent Chappell scored 16 points, but it was not enough as Hawai'i Pacific lost to Chaminade 70-62. HPU led in the early going, but Chaminade responded to keep the lead for most of the first half. HPU went down as many as 15 in the second half, but rallied to cut the lead to four on a Chappell layup with 28 seconds left. HPU, however, ran out of time.
Jason Jackson had nine points, while Royal Edwards had 8. Keenan Prince and Dustin Simcox each had seven points. Edwards led with seven rebounds as Nick Frazier led the team with three assists. The loss drops HPU to 10-16 overall and 5-9 in the PacWest.
Mamadou Diarra led Chaminade with 19 points, the Silverswords are now 18-7, 11-2
HPU next plays Dixie State on Monday at the Neil Blaisdell Center; start time is 7:30 P.M. The game is senior night for Edwards and Jackson and can be seen live on KWHE-TV.
