Honolulu, HI (2/2/11) – Despite a quick start and a huge night from Jason Jackson, Hawaii Pacific fell to BYU-Hawaii, 86-75 at the Blaisdell Center. Jackson posted 32 points and 10 rebounds, but it was not enough as HPU dropped to 10-11 overall and 5-4 inside the Pacific West Conference.
HPU led the majority of the first half and by as many as six, but the Seasiders would rally and take a 30-29 lead at the half. The game remained close early in the second half; a Royal Edwards basket gave HPU its final lead at 16:38 mark. From there, sharpshooting from distance, and solid transition offense lifted BYU-H.
Kyle Allen and Nick Frazier each scored 10 points, while LaBrent Chappell tailed eight points and eight assists. The three ball was falling for the Sea Warriors as they were 6-11, including 2-2 for Allen and 2-4 for Frazier.
Jet Chang led BYU-H with 24 points, who improve its record to 11-5, 6-1.
HPU retakes the floor on Tuesday February 8th vs. Chaminade at the Neil Blaisdell center, tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. The game can be seen live on KWHE-TV and the America One network.
