Men’s Basketball Falls to Chaminade

Honolulu, HI (2/8/11) – In another close PacWest battle, Hawai'i Pacific lost to Chaminade 72-65. The seesaw game featured five ties; HPU led with four minutes to play but could not hold on. The loss drops the Sea Warriors to 10-12 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

HPU led most of the first half, including a lead of nine with 6:43 on the clock. By halftime, HPU clung to a one-point advantage, 36-35. The second half remained tight, with no team leading by more than five until the final minutes.

LaBrent Chappell led HPU with 15 points to go along with five assists, as Adrian den Dulk scored 12. Kyle Allen played an all-around game with seven points, five rebounds, and six assists.

HPU played well offensively, committing just 8 turnovers, while shooting 41% (9-22) from three. Sixteen of HPU's 23 field goals had an assist from a teammate.

Shane Hanson led Chaminade with 20 points. The Silverswords are now 13-7 and 6-2.

The Sea Warriors now travel to Hilo on Friday to take on the Vulcans at 7:30 p.m.
