Men’s Soccer Falls, Splits Trip

Honolulu, HI (September 5, 2011) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's soccer team heads back to Oahu with a 1-1 record after falling to Fort Lewis College 3-0 on Sunday. This was the final match of the Dirks Classic hosted by Fort Lewis.

Fort Lewis jumped out early, 27:06 into the match HPU trailed 2-0. FLC's Kosta Kordistos added his second goal of the day in the second half at the 75:24 mark to round out the scoring. HPU only managed three shots, as compared to FLC's 23. 

Mael Lefebvre recorded six saves for HPU.

HPU will play against Chaminade at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park on Friday at 7:00 PM. The Sea Warriors then host UH-Hilo on Saturday at Atherton Field at 3 P.M. Both matches are a part of the Hawai'i Challenge Cup.

Notes: The match was delayed 20 minutes due to lightning...HPU's George Fochive was ejected after receiving two yellow cards; he will also miss the Sea Warriors next game...HPU had zero shots on goal.
