Box Score Honolulu, HI (January 10, 2012) – Just seconds from the end of regulation, the visiting Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii stole the game. The Sea Warriors had five players post double figure scoring nights, but it was not enough to prevent Hawai'i Pacific from falling to 6-6 on the season.
With HPU leading 60-59 late in the contest, Ronnie Hodge had a chance to put HPU up by three, but he missed the front end of the 1 and 1. On the ensuing possession, BYU-H's Gary Satterwhite hit a three-pointer with four seconds to play. Down two, HPU had one last chance but a turnover cost HPU.
HPU struggled from the foul line all night; the Sea Warriors only converted 11 of 21 (52%) foul shots. Ironically, BYU-H had difficulty from beyond the arc, hitting 6-25 (24%) for the game. The Seasiders missed all nine attempts in the first half.
Glenn Miller posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Fran Urli and Hodge each had a team-high 11 points.
Sean Jones added 10 points off the bench in 20 minutes of action.
LaBrent Chappell got his teammates involved with five assists.
Kyle Allen again had a strong effort with seven points and eight rebounds.
BYU-H is now 6-6 overall and 3-0 in PacWest play. The 'Siders were led by Satterwhite and Okesene Ale, who each scored 14 points.
HPU returns to action on Monday against Academy of Art at the Neil Blaisdell Center. Tip time is slated for 7 PM.
