Fresno, CA (October 27, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific volleyball team (13-8, 7-6) had its six-game winning streak snapped by 13th ranked Fresno Pacific (19-1, 11-0). HPU lost the match 25-20, 25-18, and 25-21 in front of 347 people in Fresno.
The Sea Warriors played a tough first set against FPU, HPU led several times, including at 18-16. However, FPU went on a 6-0 run to take back control of the set. The Sunbirds would lead the entire second set, and by as many as 11 points. HPU would battle back but lose 25-18. The third set was similar to the first with HPU being in it until late. HPU led 17-16 and later would tie the match at 21, FPU then took the next four points and the win.
Haley Doerfler continued her hot play of late with a team-high eight kills and a robust .800 hitting percentage.
Pihanakealoha Kea led HPU with 19 assists as
Chelsey Buyuan had nine digs.
Amanda Moriarty had a good all-around match with six kills and six digs.
HPU will wrap up the road trip tomorrow at Dominican University in San Rafael, CA at 7 PM PST.
