Laie, HI (October 5, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific volleyball team (7-6, 1-4) was swept by the 12th ranked Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii. HPU did not seriously push BYUH in any set, losing 25-17, 28-18, and 25-9.
HPU led briefly in the second set, but that would be it for the Sea Warriors. BYUH again won the battle of hitting percentage .388 to .087. HPU was out blocked 10-3 and HPU didn't help itself with 20 hitting errors.
HPU was paced by
Amanda Moriarty and
Haley Doerfler who each registered seven kills; Doerfler hit .357 for the match.
Pihanakealoha Kea had team-highs with 22 assists and nine digs.
Stella Chen led BYUH (10-2, 5-0) with 15 kills.
HPU starts a four-game home stand on October 12th against Azusa Pacific at St. Andrew's Priory at 7 PM. Point Loma Nazarene, Cal Baptist, and Chaminade will then visit the Priory within a week.
