Box Score Honolulu, HI (February 6, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's basketball team battled, but the Red Storm of Dixie State was too much. HPU dropped the PacWest home game 80-68.
From the outset Dixie State established a lead; it was 11 points five minutes into the game. The lead would grow to 13 before HPU would battle back. Free throws from
Glenn Miller made it a 27-24 game with 6:21 left in the half. However, Dixie State would go on another run and lead by 15. HPU trimmed the lead to nine by the half. HPU would get the lead down to seven in the second half, but no closer.
Three Sea Warriors achieved double figure scoring nights led by
LaBrent Chappell's 15 points.
Fran Urli had 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds. In just 11 minutes of action,
Marko Cukic went 4-4 on his way to 10 points.
HPU is now 7-12 and 2-9 in the PacWest. DSC is 16-4, 11-1. Maurice Cole led all scorers with 17 points.
The Sea Warriors return to action on Saturday against Dominican University at McKinley High School at 7 PM.
