Men’s Soccer Wins Third Consecutive

Kaneohe, HI (September 22, 2012) - The Hawai'i Pacific (3-3, 3-0) men's soccer team defeated Chaminade (1-3-1, 1-1-1) by the score of 4-1 at Atherton Field. Kimo Komomua picked up a goal and an assist for the Sea Warriors who have defeated all three in-state opponents over the past seven days.

Alejandro Porras kept his scoring streak alive on a penalty kick in the 20th minute after the Chaminade defense fouled Daniel Haehre in the box.  The half would close with HPU leading the Silverswords 1-0 and holding the shot advantage 10-2.

The momentum of the match would fully swing in HPU's favor early in the second half as the Sea Warriors notched two goals in a span of 10 minutes. In the 52nd minute, Komomua sent a cross in to Haehre, who headed the ball to an open Kanoa Nartatez who scored into an open net.  Just 10 minutes later Komomua would score a goal of his own drilling a shot through traffic beating the 'Swords keeper putting HPU up 3-0.

CUH ended the Sea Warriors bid for a shutout when Tyler Uddin beat Sea Warrior keeper Alexander Bernsten in the 65th minute cutting the lead to 3-1. The finally tally of the match came in the 71st minute when Sea Warrior forward Heimana Chene scored an insurance goal from just inside the 18 yard box pushing the score to 4-1. Truls Henrik Lystad picked up the assist.

The Sea Warriors continue PacWest play on September 27th when they host Fresno Pacific at Atherton Field. Game time is set for 12:30 PM.
