Volleyball Loses to ‘Siders at Home

Honolulu, HI (September 29, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific volleyball team (7-5, 1-3) dropped a PacWest match to #12 BYU-Hawaii (8-2, 4-0) on Saturday at St. Andrew's Priory (25-14, 25-17, 25-13). Sanoe Recca led the Sea Warriors with 10 kills.

The Sea Warriors were overmatched from the opening serve to the final kill against the 12th ranked Seasiders from BYU-Hawaii. The visitors hit an astonishing .473 for the match, and .594 in the first set. Despite HPU playing a decent match, HPU had no answers for the rivals from the North Shore. HPU led briefly early in the third set, providing the evening's only bright spot.

HPU hit .134 as a team and did not commit a service error. Kasey Thompson helped with seven kills while hitting .375. Pihanakealoha Kea did her part with 18 assists and seven digs. Recca also led the team in digs with nine.

HPU will now travel to Laie for a rematch with BYU-H on October 5th.
