Bellingham, WA (September 7, 2012) - The Hawai'i Pacific (0-2) men's soccer team fell to Western Washington (1-2) by the score of 1-0 in Bellingham, Washington.
Western Washington kicked the scoring off in the 24th minute when Viking forward, Justin Moore volleyed a loose ball past Sea Warrior keeper
Mael Lefebvre. HPU nearly tied it up in the 32nd minute when Daniel Haerhre's shot glanced off the crossbar. The Sea Warriors threatened again just before the half as
Kanoa Nartatez and
Alejandro Porras recorded back to back shots on goal forcing the Vikings' Keegan Rogers to make both saves. HPU ended the half leading in shots nine to four, but down on the scoreboard 1-0.
In the second period HPU struggled to find the range on its shots as all four of the shots were off target. Lefebvre was able to keep the Sea Warriors in it stopping all three shots he faced, but the deficit proved to be insurmountable.
Hawai'i Pacific will next cross the border into Canada as they head to Burnaby, British Columbia to face Simon Frasier University on September 9th; game time is scheduled for 7:30PM.
