HONULULU, HI (July 8, 2013) – Hawai'i Pacific Athletics Director
Darren Vorderbruegge has announced the hiring of
Bahar Yaghoubi as Campus Recreation Coordinator.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Sea Warrior family and I look forward to this exciting opportunity to be a part of HPU's vision of growth and community,” said Yaghoubi.
Born in Tehran, Iran and raised in Davis, California, Yaghoubi brings a wealth of campus recreation experience to HPU. Upon her graduation from UC-Davis she was hired in the intramural sports office at her alma mater. There she managed all office operations for a program that sees approximately 19,000 participants in over 60 activities throughout the year. She stayed with the program for the next seven years working in various capacities that included administration, customer service, business, and payroll.
She has long been interested in sport. After playing basketball through high school, she was the lead student manager of the women's basketball team for four years at UC-Davis. During that time she also got her first campus rec experience as part of the intramural student staff.
In 2012, she moved to Hawaii to live near her grandparents. She worked for a local startup company, however, she felt the need to return to the university atmosphere and be involved in student development.
“The passion for student development and growth is what always motivated me to work in a university setting and my love of recreation and sports truly enables the best learning experience in a fun setting,” said Yaghoubi.
