HONOLULU – Hawai'i Pacific University Softball extends its deepest gratitude to Head Coach Jarnett Lono, a cornerstone of the program whose legacy spans from standout student-athlete to trusted leader on the Sharks coaching staff.

Lono's journey with HPU Softball began in 1995, when she enrolled at the university after earning All-State honors at Roosevelt High School. She quickly made her mark on the field, earning NFCA Third Team All- American honors at second base in 1999 during HPU's first season competing in NCAA Division II. That same season, she helped lead the then-Sea Warriors to the inagural PacWest Conference CHampionshp, while also earning First Team All- Pacwest and All-West Region accolades. Under her leadership, HPU led the nation in fielding percentage which was more than a testament to her skill, consistency, and commitment.

As a player, she was a standout both athletically and academically, earning First Team Academic All-PacWest and NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors while completing her BBA in Marketing and later an MBA in 2000.

Lono's impact didn't end after graduation. She joined the coaching staff in 1999 and has served in nearly every capacity since, including roles in compliance, sports information, Co-Head Coach, and ultimately as Head Coach. Her coaching tenure includes being part of the 2010 NFCA Coaching Staff of the Year, when HPU claimed the NCAA Division II National Championship.

A product of the program and a proud HPU alumna, Lono has spent decades mentoring student-athletes with the same care, passion, and competitive fire she once brought to the diamond herself.

From her first at-bat in an HPU jersey to her final days in the dugout, Coach Lono's loyalty, leadership, and love for the game have defined a generation of HPU Softball. Mahalo, Coach Lono
