Box Score WAIPIO, HI (September 6, 2013)—The Hawai'i Pacific Men's Soccer Team (1-0) opened the season with a victory against cross-town rival Chaminade (0-1) earning a 4-2 victory in a thrilling affair at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park.
Felipe Silva picked up two goals in his first game as a Sea Warrior while
Alejandro Porras added a pair of assists.
Despite the score being close, HPU dominated play throughout the game tallying a 24-5 shot advantage. The Sea Warriors finally broke through in the 41st minute when Porras found a streaking Silva who deposited the ball in the back of the net. The two sides would go to the break with Hawai'i Pacific holding the 1-0 advantage.
In the second half things picked up. Chaminade tied the score at 1-1 in the 60th minute off a long throw-in into the box. The Sea Warriors answered with goals from
Daniel Haehre and
Brais Garcia in the 63rd and 65th minutes respectively to push the HPU lead out to 3-1.
Chaminade answered the HPU scoring barrage with one of its own in the 67th minute, but found itself playing shorthanded after having two men ejected just 25 seconds after the goal.
Silva added one more HPU goal on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to ice the game for the Sea Warriors.
HPU managed 12 shots in each the first and second periods and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Mael Lefebvre evaluated his team's victory," It was a good win for our first game. We have a tough test on Sunday and we'll have to step it up a notch, but we're up for the challenge."
The Sea Warriors return to action against California State San Bernardino on Sunday September 8th at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park; kick off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
