Box Score FRESNO, CA (January 23, 2014) – Despite another double-double from
Farbod Farman, the Hawai'i Pacific Men's Basketball Team (11-5, 6-4) lost to Fresno Pacific (6-12, 1-9) 72-66 on the road.
Turnovers plagued the Sea Warriors in the first half; 12 turnovers combined with FPU's 54.5% (18-33) field goal percentage equaled a 12-point deficit at the half.
The FPU lead grew to 17 points with 13:27 to play and things looked bleak for Sea Warrior fans. However, a Farman layup sparked a 17-0 run over the next five plus minutes to tie the game at 54. The run featured eight points from
Malte Ziegenhagen, including two three-pointers.
After the tie, the Sunbirds quickly regained the lead, a lead they did not relinquish.
Ziegenhagen led HPU with 14 points. Farman recorded 10 points to go with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Rema Lascelles passed out six assists and scored seven points.
The Sea Warriors now head Oakland to play Holy Names on Saturday.
