Box Score OAKLAND, CA (January 25, 2014)— The Hawai`i Pacific Men's Basketball Team fell 77-70 to Holy Names in Oakland Saturday night. The Sea Warriors fall to 11-6 overall and 6-5 in the Pacific West Conference. The Hawks move to 5-14 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with six ties and eight lead changes. HPU lead by as many as four and led by three with 1:08 to play in the first half, but a 6-2 run gave the Hawks a 36-35 advantage at the break.
HNU continued its momentum into the second half jumping out to a 13-point lead with 9:43 to play. The short-handed Sea Warriors did not back down however, tying the game for the ninth time on a 15-2 run. After the furious comeback points were tough to come by over the final 3:08 for HPU and the Hawks pulled off the 77-70 victory.
Malte Ziegenhagen and
Farbod Farman each had 20 points for the Sea Warriors. Farman also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Redshirt freshman
Rema Lascelles stepped in to play 36 minutes for HPU and contributed a career-high six assists.
The Sea Warriors will now head back to Oahu for a matchup against Azusa Pacific on February 1
st. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Moanalua High School.
