Box Score HONOLULU, HI (October 14, 2014) – The Hawai'i Pacific Volleyball Team (7-8, 5-4) lost in four sets (20-25, 25-18, 25-19, 26-24) to conference frontrunner Dixie State (12-5, 9-0) on Tuesday night.
The night started off in a positive manner for HPU as the Sharks turned a 7-6 deficit in to a 13-7 lead with a seven point run. The Sharks kept the Red Storm at arm's length for the rest of the set until the visitors pulled to within three at 23-20. A DSU service error set up

From there, HPU's hitting percentage dropped to -.121 and .158 in the next two sets leading to 25-18 and 25-19 losses.
HPU answered the bell in the fourth and led early and often. An early 5-2 lead ballooned to 19-13 late without much drama for the home team. However, six of the next seven points went to Dixie State to make it a one point game. After briefly loosing the lead, Culpepper tied the set at 23 with a kill. A DSU hitting error gave HPU a set point, but it was not to be as the Red Storm took the next three points, two of them on hitting errors by HPU.
"It is disappointing that we couldn't close out game four when we had our chances. Our goal is to refocus for another good team on Thursday," said Head Coach

Haley Doerfler was exceptional racking up nine kills on a .353 hitting percentage. Culpepper led the club with a match-high 13 kills,
Pomai Recca added 11. Three Sharks reached double-figures in kills led by
Amanda Moriarty's 16.
Tenika Wentworth saw most of the action at setter, racking up a match-high 31 assists.
The Sharks will welcome Point Loma to downtown Honolulu on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
