Box Score HONOLULU, HI (October 23, 2014) – The Hawai'i Pacific Volleyball Team (10-8, 8-4) blasted visiting Holy Names (1-19, 1-13) by a 3-0 count. HPU, 8-2 in the last 10 matches, was in control throughout winning 25-14, 25-19, and 25-16.
Ironically, the visiting Hawks scored the first point in two of the three sets but that was the only measure of success that the HNU experienced.
HPU was never in any real danger, liberally substituting from the middle of the first set on. Fourteen Sharks saw action in the match.
The Sharks'Â offense was firing on all cylinders, hitting .352 in the match. HPU set the tone early, crushing the ball at a .417 clip in the opening set.
"It was nice to be in control of the match from beginning to end. We have had trouble staying focused for entire matches and it was nice to just take care of business," said Head Coach
Daryl Kapis.
Pomai Recca posted a team-high 13 kills on a .323 hitting percentage.
Kasey Thompson added nine kills while hitting an astounding .438.
Amanda Moriarty led all competitors with 20 digs as
Tenika Wentworth did the same with 20 assists.
The Sharks return to action on Saturday at 6:00 pm at St. Andrew's Priory as Dominican comes to visit. Â
