Box Score HONOLULU, HI (November 15, 2014) – The Hawai'i Pacific Men's Basketball Team (1-0) defeated Regis University (0-2) 73-58 at Moanalua High School on Saturday afternoon.

The first half was a defensive battle, and although HPU never trailed, the game was close for most of the period. With 3:53 to play in the opening half, Luke Hager hammered home a dunk to put HPU up 27-24. That sparked a 7-0 run that put the Sharks ahead 34-24 with 1:57 left. HPU ended up taking a seven point lead into the break.

The second half was all Sharks; with 15:40 to go Clayton Guy hit a jumper to give HPU a 10 point lead (44-34). From that point, HPU's lead was not less than double-digits. The Sharks led by 21 three different times, beginning with a three-pointer from Justin Long at the 5:12 mark.

Hager led HPU in his first regular season game, the junior transfer scored 14 points to go with 10 rebounds. Guy was not far behind as he tallied 13 points on six for seven shooting. Long and Darry Jones Jr. each contributed 11 points.

HPU out shot Regis, a Division II school from the RMAC, 47.6% (30-63) to 41.7% (20-48). The visitors did themselves no favors by shooting a putrid 12-23 (52.2%) from the foul line. Conversely, HPU converted all six of its chances at the charity stripe.

However, the stat of the night was HPU just committing seven turnovers as a team.

The Sharks return to action tomorrow as Saint Katherine College visits the Neal Blaisdell Center at 3:00 pm for an exhibition contest.
