Box Score LAIE, HI (February 7, 2014)—The Hawai`i Pacific Men's Basketball Team (12-8, 7-7) fell to BYU-Hawaii (11-9, 9-5) 99-85 on the North Shore Friday Night.
The Seasiders jumped out to an early eight-point lead just five minutes into the game. The Sea Warriors fought their way back to within one point, but a 19-4 run by the home team helped them to a 10-point lead at the break.
In the second half, HPU worked the deficit down to eight with 14:27 to play, but another strong run by BYUH put the game out of reach for the Sea Warriors.
Malte Ziegenhagen led the way offensively for HPU with 23 points.
Justin Long added 22 points, four assists and a team-high five rebounds.
The Sea Warriors suffered from a season-high 27 turnovers while also being out rebounded 35-25 in the game.
HPU now heads to Southern California for a three-game road swing beginning with Point Loma on February 13
th. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
