OAKLAND, CA (January 19, 2015) – The Hawai'i Pacific Men's Basketball Team (11-5, 6-4) lost on the road 84-71 to Holy Names University (3-14, 1-8) on Monday night in Northern California.

Holy Names played with confidence from the outset and grabbed an early 5-0 lead. HPU then tied the game at seven on a three-pointer from Justin Long. However, the home team held a 10 point lead with 8:36 to go in the first half and controlled the rest of the period. HPU headed to the locker room down 42-28.

As is becoming a pattern, HPU played much better in the second half. The Sharks opened the half with a 14-3 run to get to within three points at 45-42 with 13:27 to go. The home team responded with a run of their own and held a 62-46 with eight and a half minutes remaining.

The Sharks made a last minute attempt at a comeback when they drew to within six points on a pair of free throws from Luke Hager with 2:58 to go. Turnovers cost HPU down the stretch as the comeback was turned away.

Hager led the way with 26 points on 10-12 foul shooting, he added seven rebounds. Darry Jones Jr. had a game-high eight rebounds to go with his 14 points. Long contributed 10 points while Connor Looney continued his good play of late with nine points.
