Box Score SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 22, 2015) – The Hawai'i Pacific Men's Basketball Team (12-5, 7-4) got back to its winning ways against Academy of Art (4-12, 2-8) on Thursday in the Bay Area.

Art U got off to a good start and held the lead until the 10:40 mark when Josh Morgan hit a three to tie the game at 15. The teams battled back and forth for most of the half, but HPU closed the half with a 6-0 run, including 4-4 from the line, to lead 37-30 at the break.

By the 17:11 mark of the second half, HPU's lead had grown to 11 on a basket in the paint from Luke Hager. HPU led the entire second half and the lead was only really challenged in one small stretch. With 7:58 left in the contest, Art U made the score 56-53. Morgan answered with another three-pointer and then five consecutive foul shots put the HPU advantage back to 11. The Sharks coasted home from there, winning the game by 16 with the help of excellent foul shooting.

The win moves HPU into fifth place in the PacWest, important because the top six schools qualify for the PacWest Tournament.

Justin Long led the way for HPU with a game-high 15 points, including 9-10 from the foul line. Hager was 6-12 for 14 points in just 21 minutes of play before fouling out. Morgan hit three clutch three-pointers on his way to 11 points. John Horowitz had a strong game off the bench with seven points, a team-high eight rebounds and a team-leading three assists.

HPU wraps up the road trip on Saturday in Belmont, CA against Notre Dame de Namur.
