Box Score HONOLULU (October 16, 2015)—After enduring a sluggish start, the Hawaii Pacific women's volleyball team rallied to defeat Notre Dame De Namur 25-17, 19-25, 25-23, 25-19 in a PacWest Conference matchup at Saint Andrew's Priory.

The Sharks (12-6, 7-3 PacWest) ended their two-match losing streak thanks in part to hot-hitting senior Elizabeth Culpepper who compiled a match-high 26 kills on a blistering .511 hitting percentage. Junior Pomai Recca added 13 kills and 1 digs, while setter Tenika Wentworth notched 38 assists. Sophomore middle Lea Felton delivered with eight blocks and chipped in six kills for the Sharks.

HPU hit a stellar .424 in the first set and Culpepper led all players with eight kills in the first frame alone on .800 hitting with no errors.

"Elizabeth Culpepper played the offensive game of her career tonight and it was fun to just sit back and watch," said HPU coach Daryl Kapis.

After dropping the second set, the Sharks turned in a gritty performance midway through the third stanza. HPU initially trailed 19-12, however, the home team stormed back to eventually tie the score and finished the frame with four consecutive points to move ahead 2-1 and regain valuable momentum.

"To come back the way we did in game three means that even in the toughest part of the season, we can still come together and believe that we can win," Kapis said. "Strong team chemistry helps teams in tough situations."

The Argonauts (7-11, 3-6) were led by Bianca Alvarez and Dominique Tarrant (13 kills apiece).

HPU returns to the court at St. Andrew's Priory on Friday, Oct. 23 to face current PacWest leader California Baptist. The Sharks then face rival Chaminade on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Silverswords' gym.
