Amanda Moriarty racked up 15 digs.
HPU received four kills from
Jacqueline Wolfe, and in the first set, and the freshman hit a perfect 1.00. Wolfe finished the match with 10 kills and led all HPU attackers with a .438 hitting percentage.
"We had opportunities to win this match but ultimately having the skills to win have to coincide with the belief to win," said HPU coach
Daryl Kapis. "We battled like usual with California Baptist, but in the end, they executed better than we did."
The Lancers (17-3, 10-2) were led by Lauren Hackett (14 kills), while Jenna Perry and Lauren Marr posted 12 kills apiece. CBU also received 37 assists and seven kills from senior Jordyn Siko.
HPU returns to action at McCabe Gym on Saturday, Oct. 24, to face local PacWest rival Chaminade.
"I'm happy we are playing our league rival tomorrow as we need to get over this quickly because tomorrow is a very big game as well," Kapis said.
